New boy Gylfi Sigurdsson had a dream debut for Everton after the Icelander struck a a 50-yard lobbed goal against Hajduk Split on Thursday.
A deep silence ushered among the home fans, who were left in ruins as the Everton players celebrated. Absolutely nobody in the crowd had expected the former Swansea midfielder to go for goal from that distance.
Ronald Koeman would be counting on his £45 million man to keep banging in the goals as the season progresses. Having splashed a lot of cash this summer, the Dutch manager is expected to guide Everton to a Champions League spot and Sigurdsson will surely have a big role to play to that end.
Check out how the buoyant Hadjuk fans inside the stadium went absolutely silent after Gylfi Sigurdsson’s goal –
