Exciting times for football fans as the group stages of a brand new UEFA Champions League season starts from the 12th of September.
It looks like a relatively simple affair for most English clubs, as Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea have all been drawn into groups that won’t be very difficult to crack.
But it’s a whole different story for Tottenham, as they have been named in arguably the toughest group: alongside defending champions Real Madrid, German superstars Borussia Dortmund and Cypriot minnows Apoel Nicosia.
While encounters against Dortmund might seem daunting, and those against Nicosia comparatively easy, it is the prospect of facing Real Madrid that the Spurs faithful would be fearing the most.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino, on the other hand, seems to be quite confident. When asked by a fan about his opinion on the Madrid games, Pochettino replied with a curt, “Very good.”
