Pacy duo rip apart sorry Gunners
A lot of heads were raised when Liverpool forked out £34 million for Sadio Mane last summer. Labelled ‘inconsistent’ and ‘sporadic’ in his time at Southampton, the Senegalese silenced his critics by getting featured in the 2017 PFA Team of the Season.
Fast forward 2 months and Liverpool have an equally devastating prospect on the opposite wing. A £40 million buy from Roma, Mo Salah has hit the ground running for the Reds, scoring thrice already.
Against Arsenal, the African duo combined to destroy the visitors defence time and again. Liverpool were 2-0 up and cruising in the second half, when Salah latched on to a loose touch from Hector Bellerin and charged down the field with an eye towards the goal.
The Egyptian was joined by his partner in crime Sadio Mane, who blocked the recovering Bellerin to allow Salah a free shot at goal. Sadio was quick to identify the backtracking defender and intercepted his run, leading to Liverpool’s third goal.
The presence of mind to make a lung-busting run to aid his teammate’s scoring opportunity, is a clear sign of the team ethic deployed at Liverpool.
