Neymar Jr’s ridiculous €222 million move to PSG last month proves the fact that no player is too expensive in football these days.

Such eye-popping money deals show that the biggest clubs in Europe can afford to go to any extent to land their targets, no matter how big their release clauses.

Keeping their players’ release clauses as inflated as possible will be on Barcelona’s agenda during every contract negotiation henceforth, but it looks like their arch rivals learnt this lesson a long time ago.

The buyout clause of Real Madrid’s entire first squad stands at a humongous €7.25 billion, while the same for their Catalan counterparts is just €3 billion.

While Leo Messi’s release clause can be triggered for a mere €250 million, both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale have theirs fixed at €1 billion each.
