A dream move that quickly turned out to be a nightmare, Senegalese striker Oumar Niasse never would have expected what the future had in store for him when he signed for Everton in January 2016.
Condemned to the periphery under then Everton manager Roberto Martinez, things got worse for Niasse when Ronald Koeman took over and quickly demoted Niasse to the U-23 side, even denying the striker a dressing room locker.
But fast forward to Saturday and Niasse was the talk of the town as he came off the bench to spectacularly win the game for Everton scoring both goals in the 2-1 comeback win over Bournemouth.
The performance, made more poignant by his unfair treatment over the past one year and half instantly cemented his status as a cult hero even to the extent that some Everton fans turned against Koeman for the Dutchman’s mistreatment of Niasse.
