Pic: Man Utd teammate reveals Ashley Young’s brilliant attitude before scoring the free-kick v Watford

Ashley Young had one of his finest games in a Manchester United shirt as he stunned his former club Watford with a remarkable free-kick from distance during the 4-2 win away from home on Tuesday night.

But if Victor Lindelof had his way, the England international would have missed the chance to even even take it.

With Jose Mourinho already admitting his surprise to see Young and not designated free-kick taker Paul Pogba take the strike, the Swede has now revealed that he threw his name in the hat to have a go as well. But changed his mind after hearing the reply from Ashley Young.

With Young belting it past Heurelho Gomes, Lindelof had no regrets for not taking over from the left-back and was full of praise for his teammate’s effort on social media.

United fans would be hoping for more of the same from the winger turned full back and the ex-Benfica defender after both put in impressive performances against a defiant Hornets side.
