Pontus Jansson managed to strike a connection with Leeds fans from the moment he stepped on English shores. The Swede is a cult figure at Elland road for his no-nonsense old school defending with fans often roaring their approval for his crunching tackles at every opportunity they get.
The defender further enhanced his status after hitting the match-winning goal during the 1-0 win v Norwich on Saturday.
Given Pontus’ intimidating presence on the pitch, it came as a surprise to many that out of all the Leeds players playing yesterday, Nelson Oliveira decided to square up to the formidable Swede.
With Norwich trailing, the Canaries striker let his frustrations show after he clattered into Jansson deliberately during a moment in the game.
The Swede characteristically didn’t take particularly well to the tussle and squared up to the Portuguese right in front of the cheering home crowd.
In a display of playacting, the 26-year-old went to ground clutching his face in a blatant attempt to con the referee.
