When a 29-year-old Gaetano Berardi left Italy to arrive at Elland Road in 2014, a great deal of expectations were placed on him by eager fans.
Over the course of these three years, the Swiss full-back has emerged not only as a respected senior player, but also as a cult figure Peacocks supporters admire greatly.
Berardi drew plaudits from fans yet again when, during a recent interview, he accepted criticism over his dipping form lately.
The 29-year-old claimed that the team probably needed a better left-back than him as he was better suited on the right flank, but he will still continue to give his best as long as his manager demands.
This honest admission earned him a lot of praises, but the best tribute came from team-mate Pontus Jansson, who took to Twitter to call Berardi “Un vero leone” (a real lion) for expressing his frank opinion.
