Wenger planning for life after Giroud?
Arsenal have reportedly sent their head of international recruitment Francis Cagigao to monitor the rising talent of Serie B this season. Dutch starlet Alessio Da Cruz has been lighting up the second tier of Italian football prompting Arsene Wenger to personally instruct Cagigao to open negotiations with Da Cruz’s camp.
The Novara forward who is equally capable of operating as a wide man or a central striker has been extensively scouted previously by the likes of Southampton and Swansea but it would seem Arsenal have jumped ahead in the race for his signature.
While the likes of Reiss Nelson and Edward Nketiah find themselves knocking on the first team doors, the pursuit of another young prodigy might be a sign of a few impending departures from Arsenal this January.
With Alexis Sanchez’s contract expiring this summer and Olivier Giroud vying for first team action, Da Cruz might have big boots to fill on his arrival at the Emirates stadium.
