Liverpool’s pursuit of Virgil van Dijk has been one of the most talked about transfers in England over the last year.
The transfer turned ugly last summer when the Reds were issued a hands-off warning by the Saints threatening to report the Merseyside club for tapping up their star.
But that didn’t stop the rumour mill as many reports continue to link the Dutch defender with a move to Liverpool as early as January.
Amidst all the confusion surrounding the 26-year-old’s future, Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg has added fuel to the fire by liking a post linking the defender to the Reds.
Liverpool fans were quick to notice how John Achterberg’s official Twitter account had liked the post which speculates that the Reds have agreed a £75 million transfer for the defender which would make him the most expensive defender in the world.
