The ongoing debate about the future of Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez took a sensational turn earlier today as a screenshot confirming his transfer to Chelsea started going around online.

Mahrez, the 2016 PFA Players’ Player of the Year, has struggled to regain the phenomenal form that helped the Foxes win the league in the 2015-2016 season but has shown signs of revival under new Manager Claude Puel.

The Algerian playmaker has scored 7 goals in his last 14 appearances in all competitions and has been a target for a number of clubs.

In late August, the Algerian football site DZ Foot had stated that Mahrez would be wearing ‘the same colour of shirt next season’, intensifying the rumours that he was slated to join Chelsea.

The screenshot of the article, which was apparently put up on the official Chelsea site, showed a transfer confirmation which included a statement by the player himself.

Looks like a result of some html manipulation, check out the screenshot doing the rounds online –

  1. Hm!!, Chelsea should sign him (Riyah Mahrex) if good enough to add to its attackng line… Chelsea attack has not been phenomenal dis season esp with d exit of Costa. Gd luck

  2. Really? Average player that turns up a few times a season with the odd worldy of a goal. Has no strength on the ball, not really lightning quick, all right footed.

I’d take Pedro or Willian over him everytime, he’s just an average player that had a one good season.

No thank you! We should be looking at better players than this imo.
