The deal which is set to go through as soon as the transfer window opens on January 1st, will set the Reds a cool £75 million quids back and will make the 26-year-old the most expensive defender ever.

Although Klopp expressed his delight at have finally landed the player after almost a year of negotiations, the huge fee has raised quite a few eyebrows around the footballing world with even Liverpool fans questioning the sizeable outlay.

But the Dutch star certainly has the backing of former team mate Charlie Austin who took to Twitter to give a glowing endorsement of his former teammate.

The 28-year-old striker tweeted his delight to have played with Van Dijk, going on to bill the defender as the best center-back in the league.
