(Video) What Danny Murphy said about the Everton fan in crutches after the goal against Liverpool

Liverpool oldboy sparks controversy after questionable remarks

Liverpool got one over their rivals Everton at home but not before Sam Allardyce’s men had given them a scare, equalising in the second half and briefly producing moments of panic in the Reds penalty area.

The Reds had failed to build on their first half lead and were duly punished by Gylfi Sigurdsson on the counter.

As the Icelandic midfielder wheeled away to celebrate with the away crowd, one Toffees fan abandoned his crutches to join in the celebrations prompting former Red Danny Murphy to comment on his disability benefits.

Although first impression suggests a harmless light-hearted humour in Murphy’s words, Everton supporters were rightfully less then amused with the retired midfielder’s attempt.

Murphy, who is a regular analyst for BBC Match of the Day programme, might have just invited some uninvited controversy upon himself here with his sense of occasion wandering into indecorous territory.
