It’s safe to say that 2017 was a sweet year for Scott McTominay with the u-21 star making the big leap to the first team squad and gaining his first international cap for Scotland along the way.

With many youngsters often being frozen out by Jose Mourinho in the past, the young Scot certainly looks to have reversed the trend, with the Portuguese tactician often singling him out for praise after matches and even presenting him with a special accolade during United’s award night recently.

McTominay has been a shrewd player for United in midfield linking the defence with attack brilliantly and ended his breakthrough season with another assured display in the 1-0 victory over Watford yesterday.

While he has not often been viewed as a powerhouse, the youngster showed his strength against the Hornets, outsmarting two defenders before pushing off highly-rated midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure with an insane turn.
