Tottenham became the first team to benefit from goal-line technology in the new Premier League season, thanks to a Jan Vertonghen header that crept over the line by just 9mm during their 2-1 victory against Newcastle United.

The 31-year-old defender was in high spirits after getting his name in the goalscorers list even before teammate and 2 times Golden Boot winner Harry Kane and went on to jokingly tweet that he’s on the hunt for this season’s highest goalscorer award.

The cheeky tweet got amusing reactions from some of his teammates, including Dele Alli and Harry Kane himself. Even Toby Alderweireld joined in the friendly banter, showing that his equation with the club and his teammates is still good despite being strongly rumored to make a move to Manchester United in the recently concluded transfer window..

With another tough season getting underway, Spurs fans can take confidence from the genuine camaraderie that seems to be among the players in the squad.
