Just a couple of matches into the new season and Liverpool’s new goalkeeper Alisson is already starting to justify the club’s summer splurge to get his signature.
While the Brazilian’s second competitive outing against Crystal Palace was much tougher than the first, he never looked like conceding and collected another clean sheet during the Reds’ 2-0 victory.
The 25-year-old was a towering presence in goal, dealing comfortably with opposition crosses and even made a brilliant save from a goal-bound Palace free-kick.
But the most impressive facet of Alisson’s performance was his distribution from the back as he went about picking impeccable passes and classic long-range diagonals that almost always found his teammates.
The incredible range of passing displayed by their goalkeeper reminded Reds fans of their former midfield maestro Xabi Alonso, the engine who used to pull the strings of numerous fluid Liverpool attacks.
We’ve got Xabi Alonso playing in goal.

👏 Alisson completed 91.3% of his attempted passes tonight, after finding his man 93.6% of the time against West Ham.
Wayne Hennessey, by comparison, completed 42.3%. pic.twitter.com/oDFJiwQ0Ts

Alisson Becker could find Maddie McCann with these pings. He looks under pressure then just twats it 80 yards to Andy Robertson’s big toe. Incredible

Reckon Alisson could find Mourinho’s happiness with a pass.
