Toon fans have never been shy of expressing their discontent at Mike Ashley with “Ashley Out” banners a regular feature during match days at St. James’ Park.

Hence it was not surprising to see supporters openly backing Amanda Staveley and her PCP Partners Groups when they registered interest in buying the club last year but ultimately had to face disappointment as the parties couldn’t strike a deal.

Faced with another season under the English entrepreneur, Toon fans took their protests to a whole new level on Twitter as they relentlessly spammed his retail chain’s latest tweet promoting a new shoe, coming up with close to a thousand replies over two days.
