Liverpool look like the real deal this season with the Reds making it two wins out of two in the Premier League after their 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday.

But the Reds weren’t exactly given a warm reception away from home as the home fans and players voiced their disapproval of Michael Oliver’s decision to award a penalty following a 50/50 challenge from Mamadou Sakho on Mo Salah minutes before the half-time break.

With the debate raging on even after the full-time whistle, a post-match interviewer was obviously keen to get Virgil van Djik’s view on the whole incident and boy the Dutchman didn’t disappoint with his reply .

The defender literally spoke for the entire Reds contingent when talking about the controversial penalty as he came up with a brutally honest and hilarious response to sum up the whole situation.

Couldn’t have been more honest! Check out Van Djik’s brilliant response below:

  1. If you clip the back heel of a striker, you run the risk of giving up a penalty. It was a penalty. I just hope that when Palace gets the same decision they and their friends, still think the same. Liverpool had many of these decisions last season. Other fans told us what I wrote here.
