10-man Celtic had to settle for a scoreless draw against an energetic St. Mirren side on Friday night in Paisley. Even though Olivier Ntcham’s 37th minute dismissal didn’t help, the Hoops had no one but themselves to blame for the stalemate as they were lethargic for most parts of the game.
After an uninspiring display in the first half, Brendan Rodgers changed things up a bit and introduced the man who had recently scored his 100th goal for the club, Leigh Griffiths, to join Odsonne Edouard up front in search of a goal.
Griffiths, who had an unfortunate incident in the warm-up when one of his powerful shots ended up hitting a young Celtic fan, did manage to find the net in injury-time but was flagged offside.
In the end, the 28-year-old could not inspire his team to victory but despite the disappointing result, he made sure that at least one fan went home happy as he went over to apologize and gift his strip to the kid who had been on the receiving end of his shot in the warm-up.
As it turns out, Griffiths proved to be a man of his word as he had promised he’ll meet the kid after full-time. Check out the moment below:
Massive thanks to @Leighgriff09 – skelped the wee man a heavy one with a ball in the warm-up. Came across to make sure he was ok & said "You get me here at full-time". Despite the result he was true to his word. 4 more years banging in goals & making dreams come true. 👏 pic.twitter.com/bsxnITVMKs
