A disabled fan who was spotted joyously celebrating Everton’s goal during their 3-1 loss to West Ham last weekend became an unfortunate victim of the insensitivity that’s become prevalent in today’s social media age.

Footage of the fan running along the disabled section of the Park End was uploaded on Twitter by a user who mockingly claimed that the fan had jumped out of his wheelchair to celebrate.

The tweet was later slammed by supporters as they suggested that the fan is a much-loved regular at games and suffers from Down Syndrome.

The club too have taken note of the shameful incident and have responded with a tweet of their own, revealing that they have planned something special for the said fan.

Superb stuff this from Everton, really shows how much they care about the fans and thoroughly deserved to be called as “The People’s Club”.
