Liverpool have been the early pace-setters this season and are unbeaten after their first six matches, which has prompted them to be tagged as favorites to challenge holders Manchester City for the title.
The matches between the two sides were hotly contested last year as the Reds were probably the only side to make it so hard for City, defeating them thrice on the trot and sending them crashing out of the Champions League in the quarterfinals.
As the date of their first clash this term approaches, the rivalry between the two sets of fans only seems to be intensifying.
After City’s thumping 5-0 win against Cardiff last night, their supporters went on to take a dig at the Anfield side’s failure to win trophies by singing their own version of “Allez Allez Allez” – a song which became synonymous with the Reds’ run to the Champions League final last year.

Now, Liverpool fans have hit back with comments ridiculing the small-club mentality of City fans and calling them “Wannabe Manchester United”.
It’s still early season but the hostility seems to be growing and the match between the two sides promises to be a blockbuster.

Imagine going to Cardiff away then beating them 5 nil and all you can do is sing songs about Liverpool, I thought only Utd fans do this, strange bunch people from Manchester. https://t.co/tNpjc0DX15

City’s allez version completes their transition to full on wannabe united 🤦♂️

As if City fans have actually made up a version of Allez Allez Allez to take the piss out of us… You've already dedicated an episode of your program to us, likened a can of Kopparberg hitting a bus to a terrorist attack and now this… What a club pic.twitter.com/Ex30yIkB2d

If Man City are really singing Allez Allez Allez that is proper small club mentality

City fans have started their own allez allez allez chant about us, their weirdness is beyond belief ahahaha
— Joe (@JoeLFC_) September 22, 2018
City have become like Utd fans now. ‘Victims of it all’ in their new cringe Allez Allez Allez Chant is a sly Hillsborough dig.
