The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony was held at the Royal Festival Hall in London last night. Real Madrid and Croatian Midfielder Luka Modric was voted the best men’s player in 2018. The 33-year-old who won his third Champions League title in a row with Real Madrid and captained Croatia to the finals of the FIFA World Cup, became the first player other than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to win the award since Kaka back in 2007.
Controversially, neither Messi nor Ronaldo actually attended the event as both Modric and Sergio Ramos voiced their disappointment at the duo’s absence. Believe it or not, one person who did attend, was Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard’s barber. In a classy gesture, the 27-year-old who was included in the the FIFA FIFPro World XI, decided to bring his barber as his guest to the event.
Here’s an image of Hazard arriving to the event accompanied by his barber.
The Chelsea hero even allowed his barber to pose with his trophy –
Hazard and his Chelsea teammate N’Golo Kante were the only two players from the Premier League to make the World 11. Based on how the Belgian has started this season, he certainly has a chance of going one better and winning the best player award next year if he maintains his current form.
