(Video) Even footballing legends couldn’t help but applause as the presenter turned to Chelsea star N’Golo Kante during FIFA awards

The Best FIFA award ceremony held in London last night was a star-studded event attended by several great players, managers and other football dignitaries. While Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric took home the Player of the Year award, the FIFA FIFPro World XI was represented by players from La Liga, the Premier League, Ligue 1 as well as the Serie A.

Three French internationals, Kylian Mbappe, Raphael Varane and N’Golo Kante were all named in the XI after they guided their country to the biggest prize in football this summer in Russia. It is well documented that Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante who made the world X1 last year as well, is one of the shyest footballers around.

In fact, the 27-year-old was too shy even to ask to hold the World Cup trophy after France had won it, and Steven Nzonzi had to ask his French teammates to let Kante hold the trophy.

So, it came as no surprise that the midfielder was his usual shy self when he was interviewed during the award ceremony last night. In fact, the crowd consisting of current and former legends of the game, broke into smiles and applause as soon as Kante uttered a few words. The likes of Zinedine Zidane, Laurent Blanc, Didier Deschamps, Sergio Ramos and Didier Drogba couldn’t contain their joy when Kante started speaking.

Check out the moment for yourself:

In this age when most modern day footballers are accused of being too flashy, the humble and reserved nature of the Chelsea midfielder truly sets him apart from his peers.
