Football fans can sometimes be prone to knee-jerk reactions and on occasions your reactions can come back to embarrass you, particularly in the age of social media where all instant opinions are recorded. This is exactly what happened to one Chelsea fan who ended up tweeting something during his side’s game against Liverpool that he has since probably come to regret.

With Chelsea leading the game 1-0 going into the final five minutes of the game, Jurgen Klopp decided to throw on Daniel Sturridge as the Reds went looking for an equalizer. When Sturridge replaced James Milner, a Chelsea fan sent out a tweet ridiculing the 29-year-old striker and suggesting that Chelsea had the game won.

Little did he know, the Englishman would produce a sublime strike into the top corner in the final minutes of the game to bring Liverpool level. The Chelsea fan in question was obviously trolled for his hastiness as Liverpool fans didn’t pass up the opportunity to rub it in after the final whistle.

Check out the Chelsea’s fan unfortunate tweet below:

Turns out, Chelsea fans would have been wise to be ‘scared’ of Sturridge, particularly given the fact that he also scored against the Blues during the Carabao Cup tie last Wednesday. If Sturridge continues his current form, perhaps he is not far away from earning a recall to the England side.
