Tottenham Hotspur will take on Barcelona at Wembley in their second Champions League group stage game on Wednesday night. The North London club would be desperately looking for three points from the game after losing their Champions League opener against Inter Milan.
Barcelona haven’t been firing on all cylinders lately, failing to pick up a win in any of their last three outings. So under normal circumstances Mauricio Pochettino’s side would fancy themselves at home.
However, Tottenham are in the middle of a devastating injury crisis at the moment with six first team players being sidelined. Michel Vorm, Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele, Serge Aurier, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli have all been ruled out of the game on Wednesday.
Despite all these injuries, there is no doubt that Pochettino’s men will believe they can get the better of Messi and company. Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose have already spoken to the press in glowing terms about their chances of getting a result, which shows the confidence running through the current Tottenham squad.
In fact, looking at Spurs’ squad, they certainly have enough strength in depth to be able to test Barcelona. Here is the line-up Tottenham can field to try and get the better of the Catalan giants:
While, it will no doubt be a hard ask, the above team is more than capable of holding their own against any team on their day. If Spurs can get the better of Barca despite having their backs to the wall, it might just be the catalyst they need to kick-start what has been a lackluster season for them so far.
