Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Winks was handed just his second international cap by Gareth Southgate during England’s impressive 3-2 victory over Spain in a UEFA Nations League match on Monday.
Even though the midfielder did not get many opportunities to pull the strings for his side – possession being largely dominated by La Roja – he did put in a determined shift and was always quick to close down opponents.
But more than his steady performance, what impressed Spurs fans was the moment when the 22-year-old’s feisty attitude was on full display.
In what was one of the highlights of the game, Winks showed how emotionally involved he was in the game when he tried to push a host of opposition players away from the referee as they were furiously protesting about a denied penalty.
