The international break has turned out to be quite disastrous for Liverpool and its supporters as Naby Keita became the latest Anfield player to get injured while on national duty.
The midfielder joined Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane in the casualty list after limping off with a hamstring injury during Guinea’s 1-1 draw with Rwanda yesterday.
The extent of the injury was not clear but the club took no chances as the 23-year-old was driven straight to the airport and whisked back to Merseyside on a private jet.
This is the second time in two weeks the Guinean has been injured after suffering a back scare in his club’s Champions League loss against Napoli and Liverpool fans will be hoping he recovers from the latest setback quickly.
A picture that has emerged on the internet might assuage fears of a long layoff as Keita can be seen posing with fans at the airport and fortunately, the midfielder doesn’t look in too much discomfort.
