Leeds United had won just two out of eight matches since Pablo Hernandez’s absence due to a hamstring injury sustained at the end of August and Marcelo Bielsa would have been pleased with the impact he made on his full return to action during the 2-0 win over Ipswich Town earlier this week.
The Spaniard played a major part in halting his team’s recent bad run of form with two wonderful assists to Kemar Roofe and Liam Cooper against Ipswich.
And while the 33-year-old veteran wasn’t quite at his best last night in the 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest that saw the Whites relinquish their top spot, he showed he still has the ability to produce some special moments on the pitch while pulling off an unreal nutmeg pass close to the opposition box.
It was testament of the attacking midfielder’s skills and Bielsa would be delighted to have a man of such quality back in his ranks for future matches.
