Poor Jordan Pickford’s howler in the dying seconds of the Merseyside derby that gifted Liverpool a 1-0 win ensured that he would be at the receiving end of some heavy trolling on social media, especially by gleeful Anfield fans.
The Everton goalkeeper had done reasonably well throughout the match until Virgil van Dijk’s horror of a volley in injury time went high in the air, and seemed to be falling marginally behind the crossbar.
Deciding not to take a chance though, the 24-year-old jumped and tried to awkwardly push the ball over, only for it to bounce twice on the bar and land in the path of Divock Origi, who easily nodded in to send the home crowd into delirium.
And that serious error of judgment by him has now given rise to a brilliant meme on Twitter by using the “Jumpman” logo of Nike’s Air Jordan sneakers brand to troll the Englishman.
