Liverpool once again showcased their fighting spirit by coming back from a goal down to earn their 12th win of the season against Burnley to send a clear indication of their title credentials to their rivals.

The 3-1 win on Wednesday was one for the record books with Jurgen Klopp’s men having now equaled the club’s best start to a top flight season after 15 games and also saw the Reds move closer to Manchester City at the top of the league.

While these are pretty significant milestones for their season, the victory at Turf Moor came at a pretty deep cost for the team as young star Joe Gomez met with an unfortunate injury that could keep him out of action for a pretty long period of time.

The 21-year-old was pretty unlucky to have felt the full effect of a robust tackle from Ben Mee and the alarm bells were ringing all around the Liverpool dugout as soon as he hit the ground.

After not being able to get himself back on his feet, the right-back had to be stretchered off within half an hour of kick-off , forcing Klopp to turn to Trent Alexander-Arnold quicker than he would have liked.

Initial assessments from the Reds’ camp at Melwood indicate that Gomez could be out for as long as six weeks after sustaining a fracture to his lower left leg from the blow.

The news will be a bitter blow to Liverpool’s title hopes as they try to catch up to Man City with the busy period of the season approaching.

While the news had already devastated the Liverpool support around the globe, they were in for more distress as an absolutely heartbreaking photo of the youngster walking around in crutches emerged on Twitter.

The sight of one of their most beloved young stars looking so frail would have been definitely tough for the Liverpool fans to take in but they were quick to wish him a speedy recovery and will be hopeful of seeing him back in red as soon as possible.

Heartbreaking stuff. Check out the photo here :

  1. The problem with Gomez is that when he comes back, he will never be as god as he was before it.
Just as Clyne and any young player who is developing.
