While Tottenham supporters would have gone crazy with delight when Lucas Moura equalized for the North London club in the dying minutes of their 1-1 Champions League draw against Barcelona, his goal sounded the death knell for Inter Milan supporters swarmed far away in Italy’s San Siro stadium at the same time.
The Brazilian’s strike capped off a spirited fightback by Spurs after being 1-0 down for a large part of the match and ensured their passage to the knockout stages of Europe’s premier competition.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men finished second in the group with 8 points- the same amount as Inter, who had fought back similarly to earn a 1-1 tie against PSV Eindhoven after conceding early at their home ground.
Mauro Icardi had scored in the 73rd minute for the Italians and it looked like his effort would prove enough to send his side through, but all their hopes were snatched away when Moura came off the bench to score at Cam Nou.
The glum expression on Italian faces when the news of Tottenham’s equalizer was announced at the San Siro perfectly highlights how the night turned sour for them and their team. Check out the moment below:
