Frank Lampard was handed a massive boost as full-back Reece James returned to first-team training following a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an ankle ligament injury.
There’s a decent opportunity on the right side of Chelsea’s backline at the moment and it’s unfair how much pressure fans have already placed on James without even kicking a ball for the Blues, but the youngster would do well to take all the support in his stride if and when first team comes calling.
It hasn’t been just the fans who seem excited by the news, but Reece’s main competitor in the side, Cesar Azpilicueta too hailed the news of youngster’s return with an emoji-filled comment (see below) on Instagram.
Needless to say, Chelsea fans absolutely loved the show of support from the veteran.
James, who impressed during a season-long loan spell with Wigan Athletic last season, would want to follow the likes of Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham in being a regular at the Chelsea set-up under Frank Lampard.
Blues supporters have been dying to see James in action after the 19-year-old won Wigan’s Player of the Year and Goal of the Season awards, as well as earning a place in the Championship Team of the Year.
