Champions League game between Marseille and Manchester City got off to a slightly weird start as the home side chose not to take the knee before kick-off.
It has become customary in football matches for all the players and staff to take the knee as part of the silent protest against racial discrimination.
This is not the first time Marseille has been involved in a racial controversy as PSG star Neymar had alleged that he was the victim of racist abuse by Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez in a Ligue 1 fixture last month.
Check out the incident before kick-off at Stade Velodrome today –
Wtf is this? I swear this is the team that defended Alvaro after he racially abused Neymar last month? pic.twitter.com/BUMSRDpevT
