Nico Gaitan turns back the clock with a piledriver for Braga

Scoring golazos like it’s 2013

Nicolas Gaitan reintroduced himself to the world of football with an absolute peach of a goal in his debut match for Braga tonight.

No messing about from the Portuguese side as Carlos Carvalhal’s men raced to a 2-0 lead against Zorya Luhansk in just 11 minutes with the Argentine midfielder getting the second of the match after Paulinho’s opener.

Gaitan had not scored for more than a year with his last goal coming back in July 2019 for Chicago Fire in the MLS.

The Benfica legend had fallen off the radar after he made a move to China, to play at Dalian under Rafa Benitez back in 2018.

Gaitan further plied his trade in the MLS with Chicago Fire in 2019 and then transferred back to Europe when he signed for Ligue 1 outfit Lille last year.

The midfielder won the Portuguese league three times with Benfica and was also part of the Atletico Madrid team that won the UEFA Europa League in 2018.
