Liverpool fans call it ‘karma’ as Richarlison gets injured on the same day Thiago returns to training

Everton forward Richarlison got injured in an aerial clash with Eric Bailly in their Carabao Cup quarter final clash against Manchester United and Liverpool fans who believe in karmic proceedings involved in the game have said that there might be higher forces at work here.

The timing of the injury is not exactly ideal during an air tight festive schedule for clubs in the Premier League, but it is also a tad coincidental, to say the least, as Liverpool’s Thiago Alcantara, who had his fair share of time off the pitch with an injury caused by none other than Richarlison, returned to training on the very same day.

Liverpool’s marquee signing from Bayern Munich in the summer was only making his second league appearance for the club, as well as his first starting game in the league when Everton’s Brazilian forward rashly flew into a tackle against the Spaniard.

Richarlison was rightfully sent off for violent conduct, while Thiago faced time on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The midfield maestro who helped his former team Bayern on their way to win an European treble last season, has not played since his injury in October 2020: but it was only this week that he returned to training at Melwood.

If there is a footballing god existing above indeed, the sheer chance and coincidence behind the aforementioned piece of trivia is explained.

What goes around does come back around, and it would not be an understatement to say that Richarlison, a victim himself now, would be feeling the same way that Thiago felt after picking up the knee injury against him in the Merseyside derby two months ago.
