Tom King joined the likes of Tim Howard and Asmir Begovic in an exclusive club of goalkeepers who have managed to score a goal direct from a goal kick.
Newport County took an early lead against Cheltenham Town when their goalkeeper scored from inside his own six-yard box.
As it is the case with most of these kinds of goals, the main reason for the goal was the huge bounce that King’s Cheltenham counterpart never expected.
A seemingly innocuous clearance from King caught Josh Griffiths by surprise at the Cheltenham goal as the ball took a devious bounce just in front him and went inside his net.
Needless to say Newport County fans were excited with the turn of events at Whaddon Road as the tweet from club’s account went viral with more than 2000 likes in quick time.
