While there are many uncertainties in the world; one thing is nearly certain and that is football is utterly unpredictable!

Just ask Tottenham fans: by the end of January 10th, the Lilywhites had shipped 5 goals past a hapless Marine side in the FA cup and just yesterday night they were knocked out of the very same competition by Everton, who also, quite ironically, happened to score 5 past Hugo Lloris.

While their former foes from the 8th tier of English football were totally outclassed by a buoyant Spurs side, even the neutrals might have felt some form of sympathy for Jose Mourinho’s side yesterday who were sent crashing out of the historic competition in the most excruciating manner when Bernard struck in the 97th minute of extra time.

Rio Ferdinand mentioned that he ‘feels sorry’ for the former Manchester United boss during his post-match analysis of the fixture but it seems only fair to say that not everyone in the footballing world shared his sentiments – least of all the admins behind Marine AFC’s Twitter account.

Moments after Spurs saw their FA Cup dreams vanquished, the team behind Marine’s Twitter account thought it was a good idea to rub salt into their former opponents’ wounds by quickly posting an Avengers-themed troll congratulating Everton for their win. Implying how fellow Liverpool-based Toffees avenged their defeat back in January.

Featuring the likes of Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Gylfi Sigurdsson photoshopped as the popular superheroes, the image certainly didn’t stay up for long and was quickly taken down by the club, presumably after complaints from angry Spurs fans.

The club also issued a statement of apology for the “poor taste” shown by their staff and mentioned that the post was a “mistake” from their end.

Poor taste or just a bit of fun? Have your say below.
