Barring a catastrophic collapse, Manchester United should progress to the quarter-finals of the Europa League after making quick work of Real Sociedad yesterday.
The Red Devils got their groove on against the Spanish side and looked to be in complete control throughout the 4-0 win.
Bruno Fernandes ran the show once again for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s men and further outlined his importance to this United side, scoring a brace to take his tally to 21 goals this season.
The Portuguese playmaker became only the second midfielder, after Paul Scholes, to break the 20-goal barrier in a season for the club and was deservedly on the end of plaudits from pundits and fans alike for his performance.
Malaysian Instagram account waxes lyrical about Daniel James
After hitting the ground running in a red shirt at the start of last season, it’s safe to say that Daniel James has slowly fallen down the pecking order at United.
The fleet-footed Welshman has to compete with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood for a place in the starting line-up and has found opportunities few and far between this campaign.
While James might not have the stellar technical abilities the lot mentioned above posses, he is certainly not devoid of heart and a recent Instagram post from the official Instagram account of Malaysia-based Stadium Astro brilliantly captures exactly what he offers for United.
A quote from the post – “I run, therefore I am” quite perfectly sums up James’ attitude with the 23-year-old now renowned for his relentless work rate.
The winger was his robust self in the Europa League tie as well, breathing down the necks of his opponents at every opportunity and was thoroughly deserving of his late goal.
As the post quite accurately states, James might not be everyone’s favourite player but the work he does with and without the ball deserves nothing less than the most admiration from United fans.
