Tancredi Palmeri, who is famous for announcing football transfer deals with a ‘BOOM’ on Twitter, used the famous catchword to send England fans into a tizzy earlier today.
The Italian journo reckons there is a good chance that England will host the Euro 2021 competition in its entirety as UEFA are leaning towards opting for a one-country format.
The tournament was supposed to take place in the summer of 2020 but was postponed for a year because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The original plan was to host the tournament in 12 different cities – Amsterdam, Bilbao, Baku, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Munich, Rome and Saint Petersburg.
Quite ironically, the prestigious European competition, which is going to be held from 11 June to 11 July 21, could be played in the country that has now left Europe.
The news follows the decision to welcome fans back in England as Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealed plans for a cautious return of supporters in the sport a few days ago.
It has been confirmed now that from May 17, 10000 fans will be allowed in big stadiums and up to 4000 spectators will be able to sit on the stands of smaller venues, and up to 1000 people in indoor venues.
