(Video) Little Everton fan wants to support Liverpool after Newcastle loss

The current season keeps getting worse and worse for Everton as they succumbed to another defeat in the Premier League, this time against Newcastle United.

This was their sixth defeat in last ten matches in all competitions and includes the humiliating defeat against struggling championship side Millwall in the FA Cup.

A lot was expected from Marco Silva’s side following their impressive performance in the Merseyside derby where they managed to hold their high-flying arch-rivals Liverpool.

And the Blues started the game in the best possible manner as Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison both were on the mark to give the Toffees a 2-0 advantage in the first half.

Everton’s number one Jordan Pickford, who was under heavy scrutiny for his recent performances, saved one from the spot to keep the lead intact.

But in the second half, they somehow managed to let this comfortable lead slip as Rondon and Ayoze Perez punished a lacklustre defensive performance to script a fairytale comeback.

This defeat leaves Everton in the eleventh place on the league table and a top-eight finish now looking more like a distant dream.

This poor run of form has left most the fans of Everton depressed, however, a certain Evertonian was left particularly distraught following their recent away defeat at St. James’ Park.

Video of a little Everton fan went viral, especially amongst Liverpool fans after the the Newcastle game. Watch it here –

“I wish we liked Liverpool”, were the words of the young Everton fan. Ouch, to say the least.

Everton’s barren run of form has literally forced a little fan to consider switching allegiances to the red half of Merseyside no less.

The recruitments of Richarlison, Yerry Mina, Bernard, and Andre Gomes were meant to propel Everton into the vicinity of the European places in the Premier League. That plan has not come to fruition so far as they lie 11th in the table, with trips to Chelsea, Arsenal, Man United and Tottenham to follow.

Everton will face Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea at Goodison Park in their next match in the Premier League and they’ll require a much better performance to bring the smile back into the faces of their dedicated fans.

Gary Neville predicts where he thinks Arsenal will finish this season

With 13 games to go in the 2018/2019 Premier League season, the race for who amongst the trio of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal ( well, not counting Tottenham for now as they still have the upper hand on the chasing trio ) is getting very interesting. From all indication, either Liverpool or Manchester City will win the league while the team that looks odds on to finish 3rd at the moment appears to be Tottenham.

So who will finish 4th, 5th and 6th amongst the rest of the the big six? The betting odds for who will finish in the top four in the Premier league this season keeps changing and there are many UK sports betting promotions to entice new customers to bet the top four market this season which is an indication of how interesting the race is this season. According to former Manchester United star, Gary Neville Arsenal will not be finishing among the top four in England yet again this season.

Neville reckons that the Gunners will in fact finish sixth in the league on this occasion.

Unai Emery is doing the best job that he possibly could do. It’s a squad that needs additions and it needs change.

He needs to sail that ship into shore, some need to disembark and the ones that he wants to get back on the need to sail back out to sea with him.

This first season for him is all about working out which players are going to be on the ship next season and testing out different things.

He’s finding out a lot about his players all the time. For instance, Matteo Guendouzi was fantastic against Manchester

He’s 19-years-old and that was a really good performance. Emery can build around things like that.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is always a threat but with the rest of the team there’s a lot to work on. It does need some change, but he will need time.

He might even need all next season as well. We shouldn’t really be rushing Unai Emery and Arsenal in respect of what he’s trying to achieve at the club.

Looking at the team I think sixth is about right to be honest.

I watched Manchester United at Leicester and they look stronger now. When you look at Manchester United’s forward line with Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial, Arsenal haven’t got that.

Even in midfield United have got Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera and they are now looking stronger at the back.

Arsenal will end up sixth and it’s between Manchester United and Chelsea for fourth and fifth.

And to be honest, it is difficult not to agree with Neville considering how the Gunners have performed so far this season. After losing the first two games of the season, Arsenal went on a 22 game unbeaten run but ever since that came to an end against Southampton in November, they have blown both hot and cold. Arsenal might have one of the best striking force in the premier league but they don’t have the midfield and defence to support that attack.

They currently occupy the 6th position on the table behind Chelsea and Manchester United and it is difficult to see them finishing any better than that. Although it must be said that Chelsea don’t appear convincing at the moment but I simply can’t see them finishing ahead of the Blues.

In my humble opinion, Manchester United are the team best equipped to finish 4th in the league. The arrival of Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus could bring out the best from Eden Hazard ( as we all saw last weekend ) and Chelsea could yet come to live but at the moment I am not convinced.

(Image) Alleged picture of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold in an Everton shirt drops online

Everton fans seemed to be in a jubilant mood on Twitter after getting their hands on a photo of Liverpool’s star right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold sporting Everton merchandise even as the photo seems to be from a while back.

The 20-year-old was subject to a tug of war between the two Merseyside rivals while he was just 6-years-old and former academy coach Karl Robinson had once revealed how the Reds did everything possible to snatch him from under their rival’s noses.

Since then the England international has had a meteoric rise and is now considered as one of the crucial cogs in this vibrant Liverpool side.

Trent has been pretty vocal about his allegiance to Liverpool since making his debut and was in jubilant mood after being given his first start against the Toffees during Liverpool’s 1-0 win at the start of December.

But after getting their hands on such a photo, Blues fans were obviously not going to let the opportunity to get under the skins of their rivals go to waste and were quick to post the photo of a very young Trent Alexander-Arnold in blue on the micro-blogging site.

Report: Sergio Ramos Will Not Be Affected by Brewing Doping Scandal

The football world was recently shaken up by a scandal surrounding potential doping, bringing up various questions of ethics and equality in the community. Both fans and professional commentators have been engaged in discussions on the subject lately, and while many expected that Sergio Ramos could face harsh penalties due to his implied involvement, it looks like he’s in the clear for now.

The announcement has been somewhat controversial, and even though most fans are seemingly supportive of Ramos in his current situation, that’s not a universal position and there are still some who are treating him with a more sceptical approach.

The Scandal

The situation is over a year old at this point, and started in June 2017, when Ramos failed a doping test for dexamethasone. While the substance is primarily used for pain relief and anti-inflammation, it has also been shown to have various positive effects on a person’s cognitive abilities, leading to its ban by the World Anti-Doping Agency. Since no exceptional cases had been noted for Ramos, an investigation was launched to determine the full extent of the situation.

Ramos was reportedly contacted by UEFA representatives inquiring into his use of the drug, to which he responded with an explanation that he had been treated by a physician for a condition some time before his recent game, and had provided medical documentation corroborating his story. That, however, did not seem to please the anti-doping authorities, as the investigation went further.

Ramos Will Not See Any Sanctions

In the end, it was explained away as a mistake on the physician’s side, as he had wrongly administered the drug after mistaking it for another. The explanation seemed to please officials, who simply advised Ramos and his treating physician to be more cautious in the future in order to prevent similar “administrative mistakes”.

Many players and professionals alike questioned the decision and called for a review, although it was a final judgment and nobody on the officials’ side seemed interested in looking into it any further. It’s worth noting that much of this revolves around speculation about the final decision, with some rumours implying that there may indeed be penalties on the horizon for Ramos, although not many seem to believe that this could happen at this point. Indeed, most fans have steered their discussions straight in that direction, debating over the implications of the seemingly preferential treatment that Ramos is getting.

Questions of Equal Treatment

As can be expected, the announcement that Ramos would not face any penalties over the incident was a highly polarizing one, with many fans criticizing the organization for apparently taking sides. This sentiment seems to mostly stem from the fact that other players have not been given similar treatment in the past, despite apparently being in the same circumstances.

The name of Ronaldo has also been brought up several times in those discussions, as an example of a player who has been very vocal about the way anti-doping officials had treated him. His complaint that he was unjustly targeted on a regular basis was met with some mixed responses, although it seems like opinions have shifted now in light of the recent scandal with Ramos. In any case, both situations remain very controversial among fans, and there is no consensus about the moral implications of what has happened so far.

Implications for the World of Football

This is an incident that many are paying close attention to for various reasons, one of them being its strong implications for football as a whole. The situation with doping has already been a prominent issue in professional football for some time now, and while many were hopeful that this would be the year that we finally saw some progress in this regard, that doesn’t seem to be the case so far. In fact, the sport seems to be moving backwards in many ways, especially regarding the constant controversies and outrage we see surrounding some incidents.

Betting has taken a hit too – one look at any major sports betting site is enough to make that point clear. Many bookies are now more cautious with regards to their hints and odds, and predictions vary wildly across the board in a way that we haven’t really seen in recent times. It’s interesting to see how one scandal has managed to shake up the world of football so significantly, but at the same time, it’s worth pointing out that this was just the tipping point for many, as the controversial nature of football has been on the rise for some time now.

Fans Mostly Supportive of Player

It’s also interesting to follow the developments from the perspective of the average fan. It seems like many are actually supportive of Ramos, despite the general controversy over the alleged decision to give him preferential treatment. Even though there are lots of discussions on the subject and opinions might seem a bit polarized at first, the common trend does seem to lean towards the side of forgiving Ramos.

Whether this will have any lasting implications for the world of football is hard to tell, although it could certainly shake some people’s trust in the foundation of the sport, and the institutions that are supposed to keep the game fair for everyone. Doping scandals in sports are nothing new under the sun, but this particular situation seems to be a bit more extreme than what we’ve seen in the past, at least with regards to its impact on the sport.

It’s likely that we’re going to see further developments on that horizon too, as the situation seems to be far from over at this point. Hopefully it’s not going to bring any further negative attention to football though, as the sport has already been shaken up enough. At least players also have plenty of positive developments to look forward to, and the negativity of the situation could be balanced out by some other reports that we have seen coming in recently.

Can Patrick Bamford Finally Realise his Potential at Leeds?

Source: Leeds United via Facebook

Patrick Bamford joined Leeds United from Middlesbrough this summer in a move worth around £7 million plus add-ons. The signing met the approval of the Whites’ fan base, as the club had been desperate to acquire an out-and-out centre-forward since the departure of Chris Wood at the start of the 2017-18 campaign. Now at one of the biggest sleeping giants in the game, Bamford could finally have the opportunity to take his game to a higher level.

Bamford spent his youth career at the Nottingham Forest Academy but only made two senior appearances for the club before being signed by Chelsea in 2012. The Blues constantly seek to acquire fresh young talent and then loan the players out so they can gain vital first-team experience. Between 2012 and 2015, Bamford spent time with MK Dons, Derby County and Middlesbrough, impressing greatly by scoring 43 goals in a total of 96 league appearances combined. The 24-year-old has proved to be an extremely capable goal-getter at Championship level but has yet to make the step up and bring that form to the Premier League. This is perhaps why Chelsea decided not to keep him on as one for the future.

After signing for Leeds, Bamford will be hoping he can become a crucial player in a promotion campaign for the Yorkshire club. He will be aware that players like Harry Kane are of a similar age and know that now is the time for him to step up if he is ever to become an elite player.

The lure of working under the guidance of world-renowned tactician Marcelo Bielsa will have been a huge factor in Bamford’s decision to join Leeds. The Argentine manager has been credited with influencing Mauricio Pochettino and Pep Guardiola has described El Loco as the best coach in the world. Just as Pochettino has been able to coach and coax the best out of Kane to turn him into a world class striker, perhaps Bielsa will do the same with Bamford. Let’s not forget that only a few years ago the England captain was also plying his trade in the lower echelons of the English game before the Tottenham Hotspur manager realised he had a diamond that needed polishing.

The odds on Bamford finishing the season as the top scorer in the Championship are quite tempting, especially to punters who want to make use of a free bet, such as the welcome offer signalled by Oddschecker which gifts new Skybet players with £20 to stake. At odds of 25/1 to bang in the most goals, Bamford could be a shrewd outside bet. As soon as the youngster starts scoring more goals in the division, those odds will shorten drastically.

Bamford has shown signs that one day he could become a brilliant player and compete at the highest level. But at 24 years old, it’s make or break time for the Grantham-born striker. Maybe under the guidance of esteemed manager, Bielsa, Bamford can finally realise his potential and fire his new club back into the top flight.

What did Ian Wright say about Mesut Ozil (Video)

Arsenal legend Ian Wright ripped apart Gunners star Mesut Ozil for his Facebook post where the German spoke against former Arsenal stars.

Wrighty said, “Rather than accepting the German’s point of view, Wright went on the offensive:

Sign a contract, if you feel that strongly about people criticising the team because you’re somebody who is integral to Arsenal’s success.

You’re not signing a deal and you’re probably going to continue to hide behind the fact that [Alexis] Sanchez is the one that everybody’s going to say, ‘Is he going to go?’.

Why haven’t you signed yet? That’s what I would say to you. If you feel that strongly, why haven’t you signed yet?”
