Patrick Bamford destroyed Swansea City’s no. 17 with an elastico nutmeg last night

The drama at the summit of the EFL Championship continues as Leeds United beat Swansea City 2-1 at home to climb to the top of the table following Norwich City’s defeat at Preston.

Leeds were keen to make it tenth straight home win against the Swans and they did it in style thanks to first-half strikes from Pontus Jansson and Jack Harrison.

They were clearly the dominant side in the game with the lion’s share of possession and they managed to get as many as 19 shots away among which 7 were right on target.

Many eyes were on Swansea City winger Daniel James whose proposed move to Leeds during the winter transfer window broke down on the deadline day even after completing a medical for the Whites.

The 21-year-old had a very quiet night with only a few glimpses of his individual brilliance on display.

His counterpart Englishman Patrick Bamford was, grew into the game and was a constant threat down the middle as the game progressed and often switched to the flanks to lead the attack.

One of the best moments in the game came from him when he pulled off a perfect elastico nutmeg on Tottenham loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers during a moment in the game.

Tottenham fans loved this from Juan Foyth against Christian Pulisic last night

In another scintillating display, Tottenham Hotspur pulled off a brilliant 3-0 victory over a Borussia Dortmund side who are dominating the Bundesliga.

The win did not only gave them an edge going into the second leg at the Signal Iduna Park but also showcased how well their youngsters are performing in a vital period when they are missing some of the key players.

One such brilliant performer yesterday was the 21-year-old Argentinian defender Juan Foyth.

Many were surprised to see him in the first team but the youngster stepped up to the big occasion, grew into the game and kept the dazzling Dortmund attack consisting of the likes of Mario Götze, Christian Pulisic and Jadon Sancho at bay.

One particular moment where he held off the pressure from Pulisic and Götze before making a sweet turn to trigger a counter-attack summed up his performance on the night.

The footage of the incident landed online & it very quickly gained popularity among the Spurs faithful and many pitched in to praise the young defender.

And given the fact that Pulisic recently signed a £58 million deal to join arch-rivals Chelsea in the next summer made the moment even sweeter for the North Londoners.

Yesterday was another great European night for Tottenham but if they are to make a bid for the coveted trophy, they’ll require many of such amazing performances from the likes of Harry Winks and Juan Foyth in the future.

This fist pump from Harry Winks at full time showed what a huge result this was for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur turned on the style in the second half to stun Borussia Dortmund 3-0 in the first leg of their round of 16 encounter at the Wembley yesterday.

With the influential duo of Harry Kane and Dele Alli missing, Spurs had to reshuffle a bit but Pochettino’s young side showed grit to dominate the game and Lucien Favre’s men now have a huge task at hand to turn the tie around at the Signal Iduna Park.

After a rather quite first half, Son Heung-min broke the deadlock two minutes after the restart before Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente sealed the match in the last 10 minutes.

Captaining the side in the absence of Kane, Vertonghen had a stellar performance against the German club and fully deserved his goal as well as the man of the match bong he was awarded later.

While the Belgian stole most of the headlines with his robust performance, Tottenham fans did well not to miss this bit of passion from Harry Winks at the full time whistle.

The 23-year-old had a good night himself and was highly involved in Tottenham’s play.

Just as the referee was about to signal the end of the fixture, Winks seemed to be overfilled with passion and was spotted pumping his fists as soon the whistle went off.

With Tottenham going into the second leg 3 goals to the good, a solid performance in Germany should take them through to the quarter finals and fans should be bracing themselves to see more of such gestures from Winks and his teammates if that happens.

(Image) Barcelona legend reveals his admiration for the amazing Celtic Park atmosphere

It’s one thing when an opposing manager or player says good things about your stadium before a match but it’s a whole new proposition when one of the game’s greatest legends declares his love for a club’s ground over and over again.

Barcelona legend Xavi has never been shy about expressing his love for Celtic, and once even called the Hoops “too big” to have to go through qualifying rounds to progress to the group stages of the Champions League.

The 39-year-old has also spoken about his admiration for the atmosphere at Celtic Park on occasions in the past and still seems to hold the ground in high regard.

According to a couple of Hoops supporters, the legendary midfielder named Celtic Park as the best atmosphere he has played in when they met the Spaniard recently.

Having played in a number of stadiums all across the globe, the glowing recommendation from Xavi will surely be cherished by Hoops fans for some time to come.

What Patrick Bamford did right after Phillips’ goal would have delighted Leeds United fans

Kalvin Phillips headed Leeds back to the top of the Championship in the 11th minute of stoppage time to salvage a late draw against Middlesbrough yesterday.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men travelled to the Riverside Stadium knowing fully well that a point was all that they needed to return to the top spot but certainly left it late to equalize after Lewis Wing gave the home side the lead in the 47th minute.

Late comebacks are always thrilling and the traveling fans could barely contain their joy after Phillips headed in from close range with barely a minute of stoppage time left.

But getting on level terms wasn’t seemingly enough for Patrick Bamford, who wasted no time in celebrating the equalizer and looked more keen to snatch a winner before the full time whistle.

The striker was spotted picking up the ball from the net almost immediately after the goal went in and Leeds supporters would have surely loved to see the 25-year-old’s drive to get all points in the bag.

Watch Naby Keita’s ‘pass of the season’ contender against Bournemouth from a brilliant angle

Goals from Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum and Mo Salah helped the Reds to a solid 3-0 win over Bournemouth yesterday and regain pole position in the Premier League.

With City breathing down their necks, the win gives Jurgen Klopp’s men some much need breathing space at the top and also saw Naby Keita put in one of his finest performance since arriving at Anfield last summer.

The Guinean international has been struggling to assert himself for Liverpool so far but showed his class against the Cherries, making more tackles (seven) and ball recoveries (12) than any other player on the pitch.

Apart from his defensive contributions, the diminutive midfielder also showed his attacking prowess during the fixture, with his gorgeous pass to Firmino in the buildup to Salah’s goal a testament to his ability.

Liverpool supporters should be encouraged by the 24-year-old’s display against the Cherries and if the central midfielder can find the consistency to pull off such performances on a weekly basis, the £48m paid for his services will soon look like a bargain.

(Photo) The heartbreaking moment between Mo Salah and Jurgen Klopp in the tunnel after West Ham draw

Although the new campaign got off to a rather slow start by his own lofty standards, Mo Salah regained his goal scoring touch as the season progressed with 16 Premier League goals so far into the season.

The Egyptian wizard is one of the most likable personalities in football, adored by fans all around the world and so it was quite disheartening to see reports of racist abuse being hurled at the winger from a Hammers fan during Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Manuel Pellegrini’s men.

All in all, it was a difficult night for the Reds in the London Stadium as a vibrant West Ham side proved to be difficult to break down for Jurgen Klopp’s side and that seemed to have taken a toll on Salah as well.

The 26-year-old looked quite disappointed as he embraced Klopp in the tunnel and the photo of two of their most influential personnel looking rather down is sure to break many Liverpool hearts.

Literally heartbreaking stuff. Check out a photo of the duo here:

Footage of a dressing room at the new Tottenham stadium drops online and it looks stunning

While certain reports released during December seemed to suggest that there was a high possibility of Spurs welcoming Borussia Dortmund into their new stadium for their UCL encounter this month, it is pretty much clear now that such a scenario is out of the question and an official unveiling should not be expected at least until April according to news from the London Evening Standard.

Tottenham fans have been eagerly waiting for a chance to see their beloved Spurs play in their new mega stadium for some time now and regular updates featuring the cutting edge features around the ground have only added to the buzz surrounding it’s unveiling.

In a latest update about the developments inside their new abode, Spurs fans were treated to a glimpse inside what will be the home dressing room (a comment on Twitter says otherwise though) after a new video emerged on Twitter.

The dressing room is a sight to behold, featuring blue LED skirtings with well designed locker rooms and fans could barely contain their excitement after watching the short clip.

Now that’s a dressing room! Check out the clip showing Spurs new dressing room here :

It’s easy to see why players and Pochettino himself can’t seemingly wait to move out Wembley with all the new facilities looking absolutely stunning and the amenities will surely serve as a big boost for the squad when they come out to play at home.

(Photo) Rangers fans wouldn’t have liked this Aberdeen fan’s conduct towards Steven Gerrard last night

Rangers kept pace with rivals Celtic after coming out 4-2 winners against Aberdeen in a fairly nervy contest which saw both teams end the 90 minutes with only ten men left on the field.

Alfredo Morelos just can’t seem to keep his cool on the pitch against the Dons this season and yesterday’s sending off marked his third red card against Aberdeen this year alone.

But before getting his marching orders, the Colombian had already inflicted some major damage to Derek Mclennes’ men with his brace which was followed up by goals from James Tavernier and Jermain Defoe to ensure that the Gers went home with all points in the bag.

The tension in the air was clear even before a ball was kicked as an Aberdeen fan tried to unnerve Steven Gerrard by making a derogatory gesture as the England legend was making his way to dugout from the the tunnel.

The sheer lack of respect would have surely enraged Rangers fans and some supporters made their feelings clear on Twitter after a photo of the Aberdeen dishing out the middles fingers at Steven Gerrard made its way to the micro-blogging site.

Lack of class. Check out a photo of the incident here:

Liverpool fan blames London Stadium’s pitch for the loss of points against West Ham

The alarm bells are starting to ring around Anfield as the Reds failed to extend their advantage over reigning champions Manchester City yet again with the 1-1 draw against the Hammers, reducing the gap at the top to just 3 points.

Following the draw against Leicester City, the onus was on Klopp’s men to stamp their foot down in the title race but the Reds came up short yet again and in truth, were pretty lucky to leave London with any points at all against a vibrant West Ham side.

Liverpool fans were obviously disappointed with the result but listening to some of their fans whine after the draw yesterday turned out to be absolutely priceless for rival fans.

One particular fan has been especially ridiculed by football fans online after he went on to give the most bizzare reasons for the draw, even going as far as to blame the pitch for Liverpool’s troubles while talking to The Football Terrace.

Home fans nearby got on his case immediately during the chat and others were seen having a good time at his expense after the clip made it to Twitter.

Watching this live from Scott Brown got all the Celtic fans excited during the win against St. Johnstone

Celtic maintained their 6 point lead at the top of the Premiership with a 2-0 victory over St Johnstone on Sunday.

The Hoops certainly left it late to grab the three points with James Forrest turning in Timothy Weah’s cross in the 78th minute before the youngster doubled the lead for the visitors a minute before regulation time.

The 18-year-old has been on fire since coming in from PSG on loan during the winter transfer window, terrorizing defences with his blistering pace and sharpness but Hoops fans seemed pretty surprised to see another one of their beloved stars really going through the gears during the win.

Not exactly a player associated with quickness, club captain Scott Brown proved to his critics that he’s still got much to offer the champions as he went on a pacey dash to spark a quick counter late in the game.

Despite being written off by his critics constantly, the 33-year-old justified the club’s decision to reward him with a new contract with another trademark no-nonsense display over the weekend and fans on Twitter definitely loved to see the quick legs from Brown.

(Image) Look at Mikael Lustig’s comment on Timothy Weah’s post after Celtic win

Timothy Weah’s dream start to his Celtic career continued on Sunday as the American changed the game for the Bhoys during their 2-0 win against St. Johnstone at the McDiarmid Park.

The young USMNT hotshot replaced Odsonne Edouard because of an injury in the 74th minute and turned the game on its head with his superb display.

Weah assisted Celtic’s first goal while scoring the 2nd himself.

But it seems one of his teammates wasn’t really impressed with his social media game after the win.

Defender Mikael Lustig took to Instagram and took a jab at youngster’s excessive use of emoji with a brilliant comment.

Listen to the raucous noise emanating from St. James’ Park after the full time whistle v City

Newcastle United pulled off a fantastic 2-1 win at St. James’ Park against Manchester City on Tuesday night.

City opened the scoring with an early Aguero strike in the very first minute but perhaps it just wasn’t meant to be for Pep Guardiola’s side as Salomon Rondon equalised in the 66th minute and Matt Ritchie scored a penalty in the 80th minute to seal three important points for the Magpies.

After a dismal start to the season where it took Newcastle 11 matches to register their first win, the Magpies seem to have found a semblance of coordination amongst themselves after executing back-to-back victories in the Premier League.

While social media warriors went online to discuss and debate the intricacies of the exciting clash after full-time, one video has grabbed quite a bit of attention.

Posted by @ALawrence95UK on Twitter, this video captures the sheer energy emanating from St. James’ Park despite it being recorded from a mile away. Check it out below:

Several other Geordies responded to the post. @mickpielad wrote, “Never had a feeling like that inside the stadium for a long Time! UNITED!”

A cheeky response from @peteb333 read- “Parts of Liverpool sounded the same last night.”

@CheekyTOON24 wrote, “So nice to hear that place roar again it’s been long time since I’ve heard a 2nd half atmosphere like that.”

(Photo) Tweet of the day as Kyle Walker rustles every Liverpool fan with a social media update

It has to be said though, Manchester City better win the title now or this tweet will haunt Kyle Walker for life.

Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker took to Twitter displaying his pleasure after Liverpool’s draw against Leicester City.

City lost 3 crucial points on Tuesday night after the shock defeat at the hands of Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United but things didn’t turn out to be so bad as Liverpool could only increase the gap by a point.

The usage of the famous Harry Maguire photo does make it very funny, but Kyle Walker should know that Liverpool did eventually manage to make the gap bigger, even if it was only with the help of a draw.

As expected the tweet has now been deleted, check out a screenshot below –

Newcastle fans will love what these MLS fans are saying about soon-too-be new signing Miguel Almiron

Newcastle United sent shockwaves around the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Pep Guardiola’s champions at St James’s Park to leave the door wide open for Liverpool to extend their lead at the top even further when they face Leicester City later today.

After going behind just seconds into the match, Rafa Benitez did his former club a huge favour by masterminding the brilliant comeback at home to oversee what was the Geordies’ first win against the citizens in 23 meetings.

After their FA Cup fourth round exit to Watford, the Spaniard came under a lot of scrutiny from the press for his team selection but the huge win should silence some of his critics at least for the time being.

While the result on the pitch has obviously left fans elated, the work done by the club off of it should also make fans happy as MLS star Miguel Almiron is reportedly closing in on a switch to Newcastle United.

The 24-year-old set the MLS alight last season with his 12 goals playing a pivotal part as Atlanta went on to win their first MLS cup and has since been courted by a number of clubs from Europe.

The Paraguayan midfielder is expected to break the £16m club transfer record set by Michael Owen and Benitez clearly hopes Almiron will prove to be Newcastle’s “missing link” in his preferred 4-2-3-1 system.

Fans wary of the huge sums of money being outlaid on the relatively unknown star from America should definitely be encouraged after watching some of these tweets from his fans from the MLS.

After moving to the states from Argentina, the pacey youngster has notched up an impressive 21 goals in 62 appearances for Atlanta and fans were showering him with praise as he leaves the country for his big break.

Clearly a popular man in the USA. Check out these tweet from his fans:

https://twitter.com/Tim_Fontenault/status/1090454330438762497

Almiron maybe the long overdue gift for Benitez from Mike Ashley as the Spaniard contemplates his future at the club beyond this summer and the midfielder’s signing may just about convince him to prolong his stay at Tyneside.

The gnarly scar on Ox’s leg shows what a massive recovery it has been from the Liverpool man

After managing to address key issues during the transfer window, the confidence in the Liverpool camp was just oozing out even before a ball was kicked.

With the likes of Alisson Becker, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Shaqiri coming in, Liverpool have turned themselves into a real force this season and are challenging for major honors both domestically and in Europe.

Even the injuries haven’t slowed this side down as the Reds have kept going at full steam even with the likes of Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Gini Wijnaldum joining Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the sidelines recently.

Chamberlain especially had a rough 2018 and missed out on the Champions League final after injuring his knee during the semi-final clash with Roma in April.

During his time on the treatment table, the former Arsenal man seems to have struck quite a chord with fellow crocked teammate Rhian Brewster and took to Instagram to share a photo with the youngster after a session at the club gym.

But while fans loved to see a new bromance brewing within the squad, they seemed quite shocked after noticing the huge scar on Chamberlain’s leg.

The gnarly scar is testament to the seriousness of the midfielder’s injury and to see the Ox recover ahead of schedule from such a difficult injury should definitely motivate the Reds to keep doing better on the field.

Jurgen Klopp also seemed quite delighted with his progress during a recent presser and seemed to suggest that a comeback maybe on for Oxlade-Chamberlain this season if he keeps recovering at the current pace.

After not quite hitting the heights that was expected of him at Arsenal, the England international had moved to Anfield to salvage his career and was just hitting top gear in Red when the unfortunate injury happened.

But after battling it out with such a severe setback, the Ox may return to the pitch stronger and better than before as he looks to leave his mark at the club.

Straight out of a horror movie . Check out the scary looking scar on Chamberlain’s leg here :

(Video) This was nonchalant from Naby Keita in Liverpool training ahead of Leicester clash

Filthy back control from Naby Keita in training

After finally arriving at Anfield this summer in a deal that was finalized almost a year ago, Naby Keita was handed over the legendary Number 8 shirt and was probably expected to take the Premier League by storm by the fans.

But fast forward 8 months, the Guinean looks nowhere close to the form he showed at Leipzig and finds himself on the fringes of Klopp’s system at the moment.

While his overall game hasn’t impressed too many, the diminutive midfielder has given fans glimpses of his immense potential from time to time.

Supporters loved his sublime skills against Wolves earlier this month and the 23-year-old turned up the style once again during the preparations against Leicester City with this smooth bit of skill.

Makes it look so easy! Check out the brilliant back control from Keita here, the moment comes around 04.20 mark in the video below:
