The release of the World Tour Silver Superstars season 2 event in FC 26 brought a fun, nostalgic twist to Ultimate Team, transforming iconic legends into sought after Silver rated cards after seeing the success of last season we have Brazilian and German players this time. However, one specific feature on Carlos Alberto’s card has raised more than a few eyebrows among the community which is the inclusion of the Low Driven Shot PlayStyle+.
Say hi to the weirdest Position + Playstyle combo in the game #FC26

For a defensive icon, particularly a legendary right back, a shooting focused PlayStyle+ seems like an odd fit. The common defensive PlayStyles, such as Anticipate, Jockey, and Intercept, are present and make perfect sense. So, why the anomaly of a Low Driven Shot? The real reason can be broken down into a mix of historical context, card design philosophy for the promo, and a subtle nod to the player’s broader in game attributes.
While Carlos Alberto is globally renowned as one of the greatest defenders of all time, his legendary status is forever cemented by a moment of incredible offensive skill. The iconic goal in the 1970 World Cup Final against Italy to make it 4-1 and saw the Brazilians lift their third World cup trophy. That goal was the culmination of a sweeping team move, finished with a thunderous, low drilled strike was arguably one of the greatest team goals in World Cup history.

The goal was a powerful, low hit shot that beat the goalkeeper. While not a literal low Driven Shot as it functions in the game, the type of shot low, powerful, and executed from a defender’s position is a strong candidate for a historical tribute. Giving the card this PlayStyle+ is a way for EA to acknowledge one of the most famous offensive moments from his career, even on a primarily defensive card.
The World Tour Silver Superstars promotion is explicitly designed to give Silver rated cards a new layer of usability and uniqueness, often tying them to specific objectives and a dedicated Silver only tournament. For a special promotional card, especially an Icon, the developers may intentionally assign an unexpected but useful PlayStyle to make the card more exciting and effective in the restricted Silver environment. In a mode where players have low base shooting stats, having an automatic mechanic like the Low Driven Shot can turn a mediocre shooting stat (Carlos Alberto’s is 70 SHO on his 74 OVR Silver card) into a surprise weapon. It encourages players to actually take a shot with their defender in a way they wouldn’t normally although it is highly unlikely given this years gameplay to see a RB in an attacking position.
Ultimately, the Low Driven Shot PlayStyle+ on Carlos Alberto’s Silver Superstars card is less of an accidental or ill fitting attribute, and more of a calculated design choice. It functions as an Easter Egg that references his legendary World Cup goal, while simultaneously providing a practical and exciting offensive edge in the special Silver restricted game modes. It’s a classic case of the game developers finding a creative way to honor history while enhancing the playability of a unique promotional item.
