The Lilywhites are starting to find their rhythm under manager Roberto De Zerbi, having registered their first win in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory over Coventry City.
The summer signings, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marcos Senesi, Jan Paul van Hecke, and Andrew Robertson, are starting to gel together in the back line, as De Zerbi keeps shuffling his defence.
Tottenham Hotspur made huge investments in the summer transfer window to strengthen the team, and will now want De Zerbi to deliver results.
Spurs still need to put some pieces in place to get back to their best and make a strong push up the Premier League table.
The upcoming winter transfer window will provide them the opportunity to address the areas that need improvement and bring in more quality reinforcements.
Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing a new striker, but they also have several names on their wishlist to improve their defence and add more depth in the backline.
According to TeamTalk, Tottenham Hotspur are planning to make a move for Athletico Paranaense defender Arthur Dias, though it is believed that a potential transfer would happen in 2027.
In the last transfer window, Spurs tabled a £17.6M offer for 80 per cent of Dias’ rights, but the Brazilian outfit rejected the deal.
Athletico Paranaense’s asking price to start negotiations is set at £25M, which indicates how important the young defensive talent is to the club.
Besides that, Tottenham Hotspur are not the only club keeping tabs on Dias, as Spanish giants Barcelona are also keen to sign him and are tracking the young centre-back’s development in Brazil.
Arthur Dias progressed through the youth ranks at Athletico Paranaense, and following strong displays in the academy, he was promoted to the first-team last season and has established himself as a regular in the starting eleven.
Besides that, Dias recently made his debut for the Brazil national team against Australia in September, which further increased his stock in the transfer market.
The 19-year-old initially started as a forward in futsal, then gradually became a reliable ball-playing centre-back who can also play as a left-back.
The Brazilian defender is a left-footed centre-back who can build attacks from the back with diagonal long balls and defence-splitting passes.
Moreover, Dias is very quick, clocking 35.7 km/h in a game, and he is also exceptional at reading the game and making interceptions.
At Tottenham, De Zerbi is known for playing out from the back, and Dias’s ability to spread the play and make pinpoint passes to the attackers could become a real weapon for the team.
Dias still has two years left on his current deal with Athletico Paranaense, and the club are under no pressure to sell the defender on a cut-price transfer fee.
While Brazil players and Spurs are a common association, it remains to be seen whether they will be able to lure him away from Athletico Paranaense, and how much they will offer after already being rejected by the Brazilian outfit.
