The Football Manager 2026 First Look Reveal trailer has officially dropped, giving fans their first glimpse of the highly anticipated title after the cancellation of FM25. The new Unity Engine
The most significant change highlighted in the trailer is the game’s shift to the Unity engine. This move marks a major departure from Sports Interactive’s long-standing in-house engine and is the primary reason for the cancellation of Football Manager 2025. Key improvements spotted in the trailer include:
- Smoother Animations and Ball Physics: Player movement, from free-kicks to long shots, appears more natural and realistic. The ball physics have also been refined, eliminating the “ping-pong” effect sometimes seen in previous titles.
- Improved Presentation: The trailer teases TV broadcast-style camera angles and a more dynamic, living crowd that reacts to the unfolding drama on the pitch. Stadium details, including advertising banners and benches, have also been given a new level of polish.
- Premier League Licensing: The trailer shows off the official Premier League branding, including authentic kits, badges, and logos, which will be a major plus for realism and immersion.
The visual leap is substantial, with many comparing the new 3D match engine to a classic FIFA game from the mid-2000s, a huge compliment given the different underlying mechanics of the two franchises. The fans were delighted to see this visual refresh.

My thoughts on FM26 PC & Mac system requirements:

The Intel i3-530 & i3 330M are 15 year old CPUs, will it be an optimal FM experience, no. Does it mean you need to buy a PC or laptop to play FM26? Also no.
Maybe a video in the near future is due to cover this in more detail… https://t.co/D1joyx23qn pic.twitter.com/QBRGhEeXhQ
For many who have traditionally played the game on work laptops or older PCs, this may necessitate an upgrade. However, the minimum requirements are designed to keep the game accessible to a wider audience, though with a likely reduction in graphical fidelity.
