Hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, it’s set to be the biggest World Cup ever, featuring a record 48 teams and matches spread across 16 buzzing cities. The U.S. will host the lion’s share of matches, including the final, likely at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The tournament promises a festival of global football, blending world-class infrastructure with North America’s growing passion for the sport. With a focus on sustainability, inclusivity, and technological innovation, the 2026 World Cup aims to set new benchmarks for fan engagement and tournament experience.
As the World Cup inches closer and closer, designers and top sporting brands, especially the usual suspects Adidas and Nike, have started working on the new kits. Every World Cup owes its popularity to not only the world-class footballing talent at display, the fight amongst nations, and the potpourri of cultures that assimilate together for the biggest sporting event in the world, but also iconic footballing kits that often represent a nation’s performance on the world stage.
Home Kits get all the glory, from Brazil’s yellow to Argentina’s sky blue and white stripes, but the Away kits often come out as the canvas for designers to experiment on. Away kits, therefore, have a separate fanbase of their own, a bit understated perhaps, but still iconic. From Croatia’s 2018 “dark mode” checkerboard masterpiece, to France’s speckled 2018 away kit and Japan’s minimalist Rising Sun design, World Cup away shirts have always been the rebels of football fashion. Argentina’s navy 1994 strip, Germany’s emerald ’94 classic, and Nigeria’s bold white-and-green debut redefined cool long before social media hype. Although people might talk more about home kits, away kits have stood the test of time and continue to do so.
Meanwhile, the internet has done what the internet does best: leak out spoilers for the future. Some amazing designs for away kits have been leaked, and while these are not official yet, we can still assume the final products to appear quite similar to the ones leaked.
Up to now, a total of 11 leaked away kits for the World Cup have surfaced. Among them, most designs come from Adidas, while the remaining ones are from Nike.
Mexico

Adidas continues with its Adidas Originals line of products, with its Trefoil logo, for Mexico’s away kit. While the Mexican national team sports a White away kit, there are hints of a subtle geometric pattern imbued on the fabric, mostly inspired by Mexico’s Mesoamerican heritage and culture.
Argentina

Argentina’s away shirt looks like a sure-shot winner from the get-go. A predominantly black base, with illustrious paintbrush strokes of Los Albicelestes’ blue and white, with Adidas’ Trefoil logo and triple stripes on the shoulder, this one is going to be so iconic when it releases. As with Argentina hoping to venture deep on their World Cup run, we have high chances of seeing the likes of Leo Messi wear this amazing kit multiple times.
Spain

The Spain jersey opts for an off-white, creamy look. With subtle patterns embossed on the fabric, the Adidas kit offers La Roja’s red and gold on the stripes and numbers. The kit looks authentically Spanish, and a good contrast to their bright red home kit.
Italy

Italy’s return to the World Cup stage will boast an away kit built on a greyish/white base, but with a checkered pattern on top of it. Adidas has opted to implement minimalism and the kit doesn’t look half-bad for it. However, if compared to Spain and Argentina’s kits, feels a bit devoid of lustre.
Colombia

Colombia’s footballing history gets a push in the right direction with this Adidas kit. Combining Navy Blue as the primary color with a pattern in ‘Myspet’, a darker mint-blue shade. For the logos, Adidas uses the famous Colombian Yellow to complement the darker background.
Japan

Often regarded as the best team in Asia, the Islanders have a truly unique away kit. Set on an off-white base, with pinstripes of different colors in a fading pattern. The shoulder strips and neckline are black to complement the cream base.
Croatia

Now that we have crossed out the Adidas leaks, let’s look over at the kits offered by Nike. Croatia’s kits have been gaining momentum every year, especially due to their excellence on the pitch, as a perennial underdog. This World Cup will see Croatia sport a blue away kit, with the checkered national flag embossed on the sides. The kit is uniformly shaped and designed with excellent precision, making it one of the prettiest of the leaked ones.
Uruguay

Nike continues its winning streak with the Uruguay away kit. A futuristic design with a bold outlook, clearly inspired by Marvel’s Black Panther. The blue gradient shades on a black background provide comparisons to Black Panther, but also preserve their own unique identity. Vivacious, bold and shiny, we can easily see the Uruguayan away kit becoming an instant favourite amongst the masses.
Germany

The German away kit is sleek and stylish, quite similar to the national team from Deutschland. In a color scheme never used before by the Germans, a navy-blue base is combined with white logos and mint stripes, forming a maritime combo. The trefoil logo sits comfortably nestled in the darker base. The contrasting arrowed stripes embossed on the kit add a defining edge to the kit, making it a must-buy.
New Zealand

The Kiwi All Whites get an instant upgrade in this Puma away kit. With cloud covers on a white base, the kit stands out due to its unique design which mixes traditional artistry with modern sleekness in a well-defined way. Regardless of how the Islanders play, it would be a treat to watch them don this kit.
Portugal

Portugal and Puma’s partnership has yielded amazing dividends, with the Selecao winning the Nations League. This time, the away kit is an edgy, minimalist one. A shiny black base using gold applications, the collar sports a fine boundary representing the red and green of the Portuguese national flag. With Portuguese royalty embossed on the black, this one is a magnificent away kit that looks immediately iconic. With Portugal one of the favourites for the World Cup, we anticipate this kit to be a part of many stories.

Cristiano looks immense in this black away kit, and we cannot wait to see him don it on the pitch.
Brazil x Air Jordan

No discussion about international football can be completed without the most successful national team in the history of the FIFA World Cup, having won the tournament a record 5 times. While Brazil seems to be undergoing a transition phase, its World Cup journey will be commemorated with a rumored partnership with Air Jordan for its away kit.

In this customized prototype of Brazilian superstar Neymar wearing what could be the Brazil away jersey, we can notice the bright red color with Brazil’s yellow around the collar and sleeves. While this news is still not confirmed, the away kit offers a unique perspective on the Brazil away kits, using a never-before-seen color rarely associated with the Brazilians.
We hope for more kits to leak in the future, while some unconfirmed and fanmade designs are already out on social media, the leaked ones so far seem really attractive and we can’t wait for them to be officially launched.
