Haaland’s Big Condition: Barcelona’s Bold Man City Raid Takes Shape

Barcelona

Manchester City has always been a funnel for Barcelona in recent years. Be it Eric Garcia, Ferran Torres, Rodri, or Ilkay Gundogan, the Premier League giants have sold multiple crucial players to the Catalan club. With financial charges around City and a possible relegation or financial scrutiny, Barca is yet again looking to poach some crucial players to land in Camp Nou.

Barcelona currently has numerous gaps that they need to fill by next season. The situation around their primary target for the striker position, Julian Alvarez, has also been dismal and complicated due to Atletico Madrid’s refusal to sell the player to Barca. In this light, Barca has yet again turned their eyes to the Etihad, especially because of the City off-field situation.

Rumours have already been surfacing that the Catalan club is showing interest in a blockbuster move for Erling Haaland, the biggest Premier League player currently.

El Nacional states that while the Norwegian is interested in leaving City, he’s demanding an exit clause in his Barca contract which can be high but can give him a feasible option to leave the club.

Haaland’s projected move to Barca would change the entire dynamics of the league. With Haaland, Barca won’t just find a traditional No.9, but also a generational talent that can lead the frontline by his own means. Besides Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, the Catalans could have one of the deadliest attacking trios in world football. Although Raphinha has taken over that position currently and the club also has Gabriel Jesus, a player of Haaland’s stature changes the entire equation.

Barca is doing their internal bit to do the necessary financial preparations before bidding for the player, as Hansi Flick reportedly rates the City striker quite highly and sees him as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

However, Haaland isn’t the only City player that the Club is interested in, as they are exploring options to land Jeremy Doku in the summer transfer window.

Doku, 24 has already established himself as one of the best dribblers in the Premier League.

Under Hansi Flick’s high-paced system, Doku can thrive massively if he eventually gets to Camp Nou. Now it needs to be seen how these signings eventually unfold in the summer transfer window. Of course, City’s situation around those charges will play a major part in these deals.

Barca sporting director Deco was prepared to spend the big bucks on Julian Alvarez last summer, and don’t be surprised if he does the same in this case as well.
