Heart of Midlothian Football Club (Hearts) has got off to the best possible start to the Scottish Premiership season of 2025/26 under Derek Mcinnes after the experienced Scotsman was appointed as their manager in May 2025.
Hearts have been unbeaten in the new Scottish Premiership season so far, winning 8 and drawing 2 games out of 10 and sitting pretty at the top of the league table with 26 points, 6 points above second-placed Celtic.
However, it’s not just the club’s performances that have impressed this time; it’s also the Hearts fans who have been making the headlines in recent times because of their now-famous chant. Hearts fans are making their mark all over social media recently with their chant.
The chant has been quoted by many to be ‘one of the catchiest and the best football chants you’ll hear’. Turned into the chant, it’s lyrics go like this: “And so you know, we’ll always care and we’ll complain when you’re not there. You have the pace, you have the power, you’re yet to have your finest hour, Claudiooo…. All we hear is Claudio Braga”.

For those unknowing, besides the lyrics what makes this chant so catchy is the tune it is based on. The chant is sung to the famous 80s synth-pop song ‘Radio Ga Ga’ by UK classic rock band Queen. It was written by drummer Roger Taylor and featured on their album The Works.
Queen paid tribute to the golden age of radio amidst the rise of television and music videos with this sing. It also became one of Queen’s biggest hits and a staple of their live performances, especially the Live Aid performance in 1985.

How did the chant originate?
The Hearts fans have dedicated this chant to their Portuguese striker Claudio Braga. The 26-year-old Braga was bought by Hearts in the summer from the Norwegian second-division side Aalesund.
Since joining Hearts, Braga has been very impressive on the field, scoring 6 goals and providing 7 assists, being the joint-top scorer and assist provider in the league so far with his club compatriot, Lawrence Shankland.
Braga’s on-field performances have made the Hearts fans dream of a Scottish Premiership title this season, and the chant has gone viral across various Television channels in the world and on social media.
Calum Mackenzie, a Hearts fan, was the one who came up with the famous chant. In an interview with the Hearts Standard publication, he was quoted, saying, “just sparked a wee idea” to come up with the chant after another fan had joked about “Radio Braga” on WhatsApp after the striker joined the club in the summer.
Mackenzie further mentioned, “Normally, we send stupid ones in. Really silly songs for a laugh, and they get a really good bite. That’s obviously been forwarded on, and ever since then, it’s been crazy.”
He said that the chant did not really go off the night it was made. In fact, when it was posted on X (Twitter) the next day, it went viral.
Reacting to the chant on him, the man himself, Claudio Braga, spoke to the Daily Record publication and said, “I sing it every day. It is amazing. I wasn’t expecting it.”
The striker further admitted that he cannot get the chant out of his head.
Braga’s performances have lit up the Scottish league so far and have made Hearts a genuine title contender this season.
The club would like to maintain their top spot in the league and their unbeaten run when they face Dundee United at home in their next fixture.
