Premier League Unlocks 33 Years of Match Highlights From 1992 to Present

Premier League have come up with a golden initiative, giving fans access to highlights of old matches dating back to as old as 1992. The addition of full replay of games, opens up the chances of reminiscing old Barclays classics.

The Premier League website handle have enabled the video highlights of games from the 2006/2007 season in 3 different choices.

A full replay of the game, a 20 min extended highlights and a 8 min brief highlights of the game.

Additionally for matches from 1992/93 season to 2005/2006 season, a 3-minute brief highlights is present.

The match footages during the 90s and early 2000s were often stored in physical tapes. To digitalize them is an uphill task. What they have in store is just the newsfeed highlights which are generally only 3 mins long.

Also, only since 2006, the Premier League’s internal production started having a master copy of every match footage and thus have been able to provide them in different features of 8 mins, 20 mins and full replay.

Previously they had to rely on the broadcaster’s footage, available only at their permit.

To access the videos, one has to join or sign up with the Premier League website. In the website, under the matches section, the results and highlights for each matchday is categorized. A season filter and matchday filter is provided, to locate the games of individual choice.

The accessibility is not restricted to UK residents and is available to global audience. All you have to do is sign up in the website.

Some users could not access it through Google Chrome but shifting to a different browser such as the Microsoft Edge helped them. The fans are unanimously welcoming this approach as fans of older clubs who have now relegated to lower divisions, could relish their time at Premier League with a visual treat.

The Premier league have re-invented fan engagement with yet another approach and have laid the blue print, which other top leagues in Europe might follow as well
