Blue Liverbird & Beatles Twist: Leaked Everton Tifo Leaves Liverpool Fans Fuming

Everton, Liverpool

While Liverpool and Everton are two clubs that aren’t always competing for the same things, there can be no doubt that even a trivial game between the two holds much weight from both fan bases.

For over a century now, the Merseyside derby has served as a staple in English football. Being one of the most fiercely competitive and intense games of the league, this clash goes beyond the fight for 3 points, turning the city of Liverpool into a battlefield of the fan’s passion and dedication to their clubs.

Before Liverpool were even formed, Anfield used to be the home of Everton in the top division of English football. However, in 1892, a disagreement with Landlord, John Houlding resulted in the club relocating to Goodison Park.

Houlding, responded by establishing The Reds. The first game between the two clubs was played on October 13, 1894, at the Goodison Park. On the day the Toffees came away victorious with a 3-0 score after full time. Ever since that day, the two clubs have had a fiery rivalry, and the Merseyside Derby reflects the longstanding history between them.

The beginning 2025-26 season saw Everton switch the historic Goodison Park to their new home, Bramley-Moore Dock (The Hill Dickinson Stadium), which is set to host its first ever Merseyside Derby game this Sunday.

In the lead-up to the game, the Evertonian fans are leaving no stone unturned in their effort to replicate the climate of their former home. The tifo pictures even went viral after surfacing and catching the attention of Twitter users.

The tifo consists of a Blue Liverbird (Bird used in the logo of Liverpool fc), a picture of Anfield with a caption, “We built this City” and the iconic Beatles’ red scarf photo turned blue, while everything under the banner of ‘The Originals’.

This bold move seems to have grabbed the attention of all football fans, who shared their reactions. Like this fan who could not help but take a dig at the club and it’s fans by saying, “Most of their trophies are closer to 1891 than 2026 so can’t blame them for bragging they were good in the Victorian times.”

On the other hand, this person argues that the tifo might have done its work even before the game because of the buzz it created.

This Kopite highlights the irony in the situation, saying, “The irony of putting the home of the 6 time Champions of Europe on a tifo for the first derby at your new home stadium is hilarious. The irony of editing a red scarf to blue on a tifo labeled “the originals” is also hilarious.”

All in all, it seems that things are already heating up between the two clubs before they meet on Sunday. With only 5 points separating the two sides, it isn’t far-fetched to think that competition for European spots might add more fuel to the fire.
