Fashion magazine includes Everton duo in their list of ‘stylish people’ spotted during New York Fashion Week

Amidst all the hustle and bustle that footballers are regularly embroiled in, fans find it very easy to forget that their favourite players can have other hobbies as well.

Take Everton, for example. The club has had a very mediocre season thus far, only collecting thirty six points from twenty five league games so far. This has seriously dented their Champions League hopes, currently being five points adrift of fourth placed Chelsea after playing an extra game. They have, however, had a mini resurgence of sorts, with their big name signings finally beginning to justify their price tag.

One man who has impressed throughout the season, by contrast, is home grown player Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The Sheffield-born lad has played at a high level consistently, collecting eleven goals and an assist in his role as a forward so far.

Occasionally providing him support in midfield is Everton youth academy recruit Tom Davies. While the twenty-one-year-old hasn’t had quite the spectacular season, he is certainly very solid in the middle and is one to watch for the future.

Now, off the pitch, one would assume that these two have not a lot in common, but that’s where one would be terribly wrong. The pair have a rather singular passion shared among them, which is fashion.

Indeed, the two of them have been known to keep up their appearances, and have been described as being very prim and proper when it comes to their dressing style.

In such a high profile job, a distinctive passion like this is bound to be noticed sooner or later. And would you know it, the pair, now on a deserved winter break, have been spotted around in the streets of New York City even as they attend one of the biggest annual fashion events in the world, New York Fashion Week.

Fashion outlet The Cut, in particular, decided to feature them in its list of stylish people seen around the NYFW, with a short piece from both players describing their philosophy on fashion.

Their assembly of outfits have garnered widespread praise from both media outlets and netizens online, with several Twitter users commending them on having a “pure” dressing philosophy and being so open about their interests.

While it is undeniable these two players give their all in the matches they play and most definitely prioritise the game first, it is heartwarming to see them indulge in what excites them so freely.

Footage of Andre Gomes ‘bodying’ Virgil van Dijk does the rounds after Everton announce deal

Everton have gotten off to a good start in the transfer window by already getting two players in quick succession before the pre-season.

After signing Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Jonas Lossl on a free transfer, the Toffees have announced their decision to turn Andre Gomes’ loan into a permanent deal.

Barcelona has agreed to allow the Portuguese international to move to Goodison Park in a £22 mil deal after the midfielder couldn’t really settle in with the Catalans during his time with the club.

The move definitely represents a good piece of business for the Merseysiders with the 25-year-old impressing for the Blues during the last campaign.

The Portuguese featured 29 times for the club, scoring once and provided some much needed stability for the Toffees in the center of the park.

Fans have received the news pretty well and have taken to social media to express their delight since the deal was officially announced.

A particular fan took the chance to have a go at their rivals Liverpool as well by tweeting a video of Gomes bodying and going past Reds strongman Virgil van Djik.

The Dutchman was easily the best defender in the league but the fan pointed out how Gomes had the better of him when the clubs clashed during the Merseyside derby last year.

Looks like a solid signing. Check out the video of Gomes Everton fans are using to troll their Liverpool counterparts :

Photo – An Everton household proudly displaying Spurs flag in Liverpool before the final

In an amusing photo shared online, a house presumably supporting Everton traditionally was seen bearing a Tottenham Hotspur flag.

The UCL final and it’s drama

Everton had a decent season and finished Eighth in the Premier League standings.

Liverpool , however, have been phenomenal this season. They narrowly lost to Manchester City in an intense Premier League title race.

The fans saw their side miraculously overturn a heavy deficit against Barcelona and reach the finals of the UEFA Champions League.

They face another team who plays with nothing to lose, Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs themselves had a dramatic season and they are hoping to prove their worth at the highest level of club football there is.

After a turbulent start to the season, Mauricio Pochettino’s side secured the fourth place in the Premier League, two spots behind Liverpool.

They too overcame a deficit against the youngblood Ajax team and won in a dramatic fashion in overtime. They will be looking to give their fans something to be proud of on Saturday.

The enemy’s enemy is a friend

While it is understandable that rival clubs temporarily support opponents of their rivals in hopes of rubbing salt into their wounds, such an abject show of support is really amusing.

The number plate of the house in the picture clearly shows that the family traditionally support Everton.

The shiny Everton crest on the number plate, however , would confuse passersby because of the flags that the house bears.

A Tottenham Hotspur flag is held between two windows, a not so subtle dig at their Merseyside rivals.

Supporting a different club just to p*ss off your rivals

The last time Everton played Tottenham they were thrashed 6-2. Hence, a true Everton supporter showing such support for Tottenham just to spite local rivals Liverpool is extremely amusing to say the least.

But as they say, football fans are the most passionate on the face of the Earth. If supporting an opponent means the downfall of your own bitter rivals, so be it!

Many netizens found the photo ironically hilarious, considering that Everton haven’t achieved much in terms of silverware in a long time, and that their pride in an opponent club seemed unfounded.

The reverse flick from Bernard everyone was talking about during Everton’s 1-0 win v Arsenal

Brazilians have always been the real showmen of football. Creating magical moments out of thin air is second nature to them.

When you get to know that a player is from Brazil you naturally expect tricks, flicks and flare, all the things that make you sit on the edge of your seat. Last night Bernard Duarte made a filthy pass in the Everton v Arsenal match that was nothing short of magic.

Here are some reactions to the pass made by the Brazilian :

Andre Gomes played the ball into Bernard’s path who was being marked by Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Bernard followed it up by producing a magical moment by turning around and flicking the ball back into the path of the former Barcelona man.

It is a shame that the ball did not make its way to Gomes to complete the one-two.

It still was a magical moment that not only bamboozled Maitland-Niles but also resulted in some pain for Sokratis, who had to run to his limits to intercept the ball before being fouled by Gomes.

With only two goals and 3 assists in all competitions, Bernard has not been very productive for Everton this season but with magical moments like these, the former Shakhtar Donetsk man can surely amass a cult following for himself.

Everton won 1-0 thanks to Phil Jagielka scoring the only goal of the match and becoming the oldest player to score a goal in the Premier League this season.

The goal dented Arsenal’s top 4 aspirations as their poor away form continued. With 4 away games out of the remaining 6, the Gunners will have to improve their away form to hold onto the 4th position.

Arsenal will play Watford away next in the premier league while Everton play the relegated Fulham side, away at Craven Cottage.

(Video) Little Everton fan wants to support Liverpool after Newcastle loss

The current season keeps getting worse and worse for Everton as they succumbed to another defeat in the Premier League, this time against Newcastle United.

This was their sixth defeat in last ten matches in all competitions and includes the humiliating defeat against struggling championship side Millwall in the FA Cup.

A lot was expected from Marco Silva’s side following their impressive performance in the Merseyside derby where they managed to hold their high-flying arch-rivals Liverpool.

And the Blues started the game in the best possible manner as Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison both were on the mark to give the Toffees a 2-0 advantage in the first half.

Everton’s number one Jordan Pickford, who was under heavy scrutiny for his recent performances, saved one from the spot to keep the lead intact.

But in the second half, they somehow managed to let this comfortable lead slip as Rondon and Ayoze Perez punished a lacklustre defensive performance to script a fairytale comeback.

This defeat leaves Everton in the eleventh place on the league table and a top-eight finish now looking more like a distant dream.

This poor run of form has left most the fans of Everton depressed, however, a certain Evertonian was left particularly distraught following their recent away defeat at St. James’ Park.

Video of a little Everton fan went viral, especially amongst Liverpool fans after the the Newcastle game. Watch it here –

“I wish we liked Liverpool”, were the words of the young Everton fan. Ouch, to say the least.

Everton’s barren run of form has literally forced a little fan to consider switching allegiances to the red half of Merseyside no less.

The recruitments of Richarlison, Yerry Mina, Bernard, and Andre Gomes were meant to propel Everton into the vicinity of the European places in the Premier League. That plan has not come to fruition so far as they lie 11th in the table, with trips to Chelsea, Arsenal, Man United and Tottenham to follow.

Everton will face Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea at Goodison Park in their next match in the Premier League and they’ll require a much better performance to bring the smile back into the faces of their dedicated fans.
